In low-pressure casting, the mold is placed in a sealed holding furnace, with the mold cavity connected to the molten metal in the furnace via a riser. During operation, compressed air is introduced into the furnace, causing the molten metal to flow through the riser into the mold cavity. After the molten metal solidifies, the compressed air in the furnace is released, and any remaining liquid metal flows back into the furnace through the riser.
Low-pressure casting involves placing the mold in a sealed, insulated furnace, with the mold cavity connected to the molten metal in the furnace via a riser. During operation, pressurized air is introduced into the furnace, causing the molten metal to flow from the riser into the mold cavity. After the molten metal has solidified, the compressed air in the furnace is released, and any remaining liquid metal flows back into the furnace through the riser.
Die casting is a metal‑casting process commonly employed by die‑casting manufacturers, characterized by the application of high pressure to molten metal within the cavity of a mold. The molds are typically made from high‑strength alloys. This process bears some resemblance to injection molding. Most die‑cast parts are made from non‑ferrous metals, such as zinc, copper, aluminum, magnesium, lead, tin, and lead‑tin alloys and their composites. Depending on the type of die casting, manufacturers must use either a cold‑chamber or a hot‑chamber die‑casting machine.
The traditional die‑casting process employed by die‑casting manufacturers typically comprises four key steps: high‑pressure die casting. These steps include mold preparation, filling, injection, and shakeout, and they form the foundation for various advanced die‑casting techniques. Before commencing the process, die‑casting manufacturers apply a lubricant to the mold cavity. In addition to helping regulate mold temperature, the lubricant also facilitates the release of the cast part from the mold. The mold is then closed, and the molten metal is injected into the cavity under high pressure.
