High-pressure die casting
Category:
High pressure casting
Product Description
Throughout the entire application process, aluminum castings offer unparalleled advantages over other types of castings. Notably, in the field of new‑energy vehicles, aluminum alloy castings have been extensively adopted in automotive manufacturing. Although aluminum castings have a lower specific gravity, they exhibit higher specific strength compared to cast iron and cast steel. Consequently, under the same load conditions, employing aluminum alloy castings can significantly reduce structural weight. As a result, aluminum alloy castings are widely used in the aerospace industry, as well as in the production of transmission equipment and transportation machinery.
Aluminum castings deliver excellent casting performance throughout the foundry’s entire production process. With their low melting point, they are widely applicable in metal materials and pressure‑casting processes, helping to enhance the internal quality of castings while also enabling tighter tolerances, superior surface finish, and higher production throughput.
Aluminum castings possess a higher latent heat of solidification and vaporization. Under the same conditions, the solidification process of lithium bromide solutions remains significantly longer than that of steel and cast iron, while exhibiting excellent fluidity—features that favor aluminum casting manufacturers in producing thick-walled components with optimized structural layouts.
After the foundry pours the high‑temperature molten metal into the mold, the mold cavity fills with a large volume of steam. This steam must be efficiently vented from the mold; molding sand must allow it to pass through. This property is known as permeability. Otherwise, defects such as blowholes and insufficient filling may occur. The permeability of the mold is influenced by the sand grain size distribution, clay content, moisture level, and sand density.
Foundries refer to the ability of aluminum castings to resist external forces as compressive strength. Molding sand must possess sufficiently high compressive strength to prevent collapse throughout the molding, handling, and assembly processes, and to avoid damaging the mold surface during casting. However, the compressive strength of molding sand used in foundries should not be excessively high; otherwise, reduced permeability and tighter dimensional tolerances may lead to casting defects.
High-pressure die casting, leveraging both high-pressure filling and high-pressure holding, ensures complete filling of intricate mold cavities with molten metal, enhancing internal density and guaranteeing superior tensile strength, compressive strength, and sealing performance. It delivers high forming efficiency and excellent dimensional consistency. Process parameters, mold designs, and product geometries can all be customized to meet specific requirements, enabling the development of complex parts with irregular shapes, multiple curved surfaces, and thin walls. We also support reverse engineering based on customer-provided drawings or samples, offering flexible alignment with industry‑specific component‑manufacturing standards.
